প্রয়াত কংগ্রেসের অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সভানেত্রী সনিয়া গান্ধীর মা পাওলা মাইনো। বুধবার (৩১ অগস্ট) কংগ্রেস দলের পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে, গত শনিবার ইটালিতে নিজের বাসভবনেই শেষ নিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন তিনি। রবিবার তাঁর শেষকৃত্য সম্পন্ন করা হয়েছে। এই খবর পাওয়ার পরই গভীর শোক প্রকাশ করলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদী। টুইট করে প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেছেন, “তাঁর মা, মিসেস পাওলা মাইনোর মৃত্যুতে সনিয়া গান্ধীজির প্রতি সমবেদনা। তার আত্মার শান্তি কামনা করি। এই শোকের মুহুর্তে, আমি তাঁর পুরো পরিবারের পাশে আছি।”
